I am a firm believer that overeating is an addiction. I know that lack of exercise and poor eating habits are largely to blame, but I think that we are missing the point when we do not look at the reason behind our over consumption of food.
Emotional eating is definitely a topic worth exploring. If you are an emotional eater please tell your story. I am sure that it will help someone who is struggling with the same addiction. If you believe that emotional eating is really an excuse that people use for being overweight I would like to hear from you too.

I too believe the emotional overeating is an addiction. I am beginning to believe that ones environment is a big factor in emotional overeating. As far back as I can remember, food was used as a way to celebrate, grieve, relieve stress, cure boredom, etc.
I myself am beginning a journey toward discovering my triggers and the tools I can use to lead a healthy life without the strangle-hold that food has on me now.
What a great article. My new years resolution is to stop emotional eating, and I understand that in order to do that I need to understand what triggers me to overeat. One of the ways I'm going to do this is through the therapy of running. I have found that running to be a peaceful and rewarding practice that allows my mind to clear itself. What I struggle with is keeping up with the running routine and using it as my primary tool of choice when I get stressed. Food is easier to turn to, but I think that identifying my triggers and committing to a positive activity will really help me understand my self more. http://trailtoemotionalfreedom.blogspot.com/
